The Miracles Shown after His Death - 682

from the wise and the prudent of this world.
But it is revealed in such fullness to the little one of Christ,
that in his whole life
he followed nothing except the footsteps of the cross,
he tasted nothing except the sweetness of the cross,
and he preached nothing except the glory of the cross.
In the beginning of his conversion
he could truly say with the Apostle:
Far be it from me to glory
except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Gal 6:14
In the course of his life
he could more truly add:
Whoever follows this rule,
peace and mercy be upon them.
Gal 6:16
In the finishing of his life
he could most truly conclude:
I bear in my body Gal 6:17
the brand marks of the Lord Jesus.
As for us,
our daily wish is to hear him say:
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.
Gal 6:18

9Now, therefore, safely glory in the glory of the cross,
glorious standard-bearer of Christ! Gal 6:14
For you began from the cross;
you went forward according to the rule of the cross,
and in the end you finished on the cross.
By the evidence of the cross
you make known to all believers
how great is your glory in the heaven.
Now too you may be safely followed
by those who come forth from Egypt. Ps 114:1 [Vulgate, Ps 113:1]
With the sea parted by the staff of Christ's cross,
they shall cross the desert;
crossing the Jordan of mortality,
they shall enter the promised land,
the land of the living, Ps 142:6 [Vulgate, Ps 141:6]
by the wonderful power of the cross.
May we be brought there

ut a mundi sapientibus et prudentibus sit occultum,
tam plene fuit huic Christi parvulo revelatum,
ut omnis vita ipsius
non nisi crucis vestigia sequeretur,
non nisi crucis dulcedinem saperet,
non nisi crucis gloriam praedicaret.
2Vere namque in suae conversionis principio
dicere cum Apostolo potuit:
Mihi autem absit gloriari
nisi in cruce Domini nostri Iesu Christi.
3Non minus etiam vere
in conversationis progressu addere valuit:
Quicumque hanc regulam secuti
fuerint pax super illos et misericordia;
4verissime autem in consummatione
potuit subinferre:
Stigmata Domini Iesu
in corpore meo porto.
5Sed et illud nos
quotidie desideramus ab ipso audire:
Gratia Domini nostri Iesu Christi
cum spiritu vestro, fratres. Amen.

9 1Gloriare igitur iam secure in crucis gloria,
Christi signifer gloriose,
quoniam a cruce incipiens,
secundum crucis regulam processisti
et tandem in cruce perficiens,
per crucis testimonium,
quantae gloriae sis in caelo,
cunetis fidelibus innotescis.
2Secure iam te sequantur
qui exeunt ex Aegypto,
quia, per baculum crucis Christi mari diviso,
deserta transibunt,
in repromissam viventium terram,
Iordane mortalitatis transmisso,
per ipsius crucis mirandam potentiam ingressuri.
