Academy of American Franciscan History

Our partner in encouraging the study of the Franciscan cultural heritage, the Academy of American Franciscan History is a research institute presently affiliated with the Franciscan School of Theology in San Diego, California. Founded in 1943, the Academy is dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of the contribution of Franciscan men and women in the Americas. It does this through the publication of monographs, primary sources, and a scholarly journal, as well as sponsoring seminars, conferences, and public lectures, as well as maintaining a digital collection of source materials. The Academy generously provided CFIT the funding to enable the original primary Franciscan source documents to be provided on this website.
